JERAM PERLUS XPDC @ HULU LANGAT

Dinner time

Jeram Perlus Waterfall

On 26th October 2008, six of us consist of Ames, Ah Hoong, Lai, Maw, Wing and Wee (a colleague of Hoong) set off to Jeram Perlus XPDC at Hulu Langat, Selangor. Five of us meet up at Ah Hoong place in the morning, to distribute the food and tent to be brought to the waterfall. The rest will be given to Lai to carry which we will meet him later on and have breakfast nearby his house.

After breakfast, we depart to Jeram Perlus waterfall by car which took us approximately an hour to reach the starting point of the Jeram Perlus waterfall. When we reach at the orang asli village, we seek the permission of the “Ketua Kampung” to guide us to the waterfall. The luck were not on our side as the Ketua Kampung went for hunting. Lai we asking around any of the anak buah of the Ketua Kampung can be our guide to the waterfall. Luckily, there are 2 anak buah were free to guide us but this come with a price. After some negotiation, we came to an agreement of the guide fee. We get ourselves prepare, Ames, Hoong and Lai start to wear their new leech socks. On top of that we spray our socks and leeches sock with Baygon spray. This is to prevent the leeches from attacking us. The trail from the orang asli village to the waterfall are leech heaven. Maw read some articles from the internet that some of them we bitten 30 leeches. 30 LEECHES!!!!! This is shocking. To prevent this from happening, Maw did further research on how to prevent leeches from biting the hikers. There are few ways, the best way is to spray your socks and shoe with Baygon spray. It’s only work on Baygon spray. Not Ridsect or any other brand of mosquito spray. We all hope this works.

Everyone is ready. We start our journey to Jeram Perlus waterfall. HERE WE COME!!!!!. The trail is relatively easy. Only a single and clear trail to hike. Till we reach a point, we have to turn right and hike all the way to the waterfall. It took us approxitmately 2 hours to reach the waterfall. Overall the trail is cover by trees, some hike up hill, crawling under the tree trunk, slippery trails, mosquito biking. As we hiked to the waterfall, we can hear the waterfall sound getting louder, and louder, and louder, and louder. We knew it we almost there. This give us more motivation to mover faster to our destination.

After 2 hours hiking, finally we reach our destination. Hoong, Wing and Wee were the first to reach the destination. Ames, Lai and Maw arrived later on. We waste no time, quickly we take off our socks and shoes to see any leeches bites to our legs. SURPRISE!!!!! REALLY SURPRISE!!!!!!. There are NO leeches we bitten on our leg. This is the first time that we were not bitten by any leeches. CHEER FOR BAYGON.!!!!!! Quickly take off our cloths and jump to the pond of water. The water was a bit cold. And slowly we walk and swim to our way to the waterfall to feel the water impact on our back. Is like a massage. Ames term it “NATURAL MASSAGE”. The feeling is great, sorng.

Feeling hungry, as we have not have our lunch yet. Quickly we start our cooking session near the waterfall. We have salmon spread, bread and chicken luncheon for our lunch and Old Town White Coffee with Hazel nut flavour. We feeling was great as we were having our lunch facing the waterfall, feeling the breezing waterfall, the sound of the fall and the great taste of the white coffee. Really relaxing.

Enough of swimming and eating, back to camp site and build the tent. As we have not build the tent yet. Too amazing with the waterfall and totally forget about the building the tent. Hoong and Lai were set up the fire. Wee and Wing set up the 4 man tent, while Ames and Maw set up the other 4 men tent. Once very things are done, we have Hoong and Lai to search for fire wood and also took same photos. Then come evening, Ames, Maw, Wing and Wee head to the waterfall again. We do the stuff all over again, swimming, massage our body in the fall.

Then come dinner. Dinner was fabulous. We have rice, chicken curry, chicken rendang, macarel fish, sardine, hard boil egg and also Old Town White Coffee with Hazel nut flavour. Its seem that we can’t live without it. We have a wonder dinner. And we have it facing the waterfall. The environment and feeling really great. Its only 6 of us at the waterfall through the nite. After dinner, we start to chat, and chat, and chat, and chat till 2am. We did not realize it was 2am as we were feeling hungry. Here we go again, SUPPER TIME!!!!! We have Sedap mee and Campbell soup.

After supper, we all feeling ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzz……….. Off we go to our respective camp to sleep. Hoong, Wing and Wee were camp-mate, while Ames, Lai and Maw in another tent. Lai did not bring his sleep bag, luckily Maw brought the emergency blanket. This emergency blanket is look like aluminium foil, the different is that the material is a mixture of polyester and it is not easy tear off and is super light. The next day, Lai commented on the emergency blanket. He felt warm through the night after using the emergency blanket. Really thank you to Maw. If not for the emergency blanket he will freezing the all whole night.

Ames was the first on to wake up. He start to gather all the food and start cooking. BREAKFAST. We have Sedap mee, hotdog, hard boil egg and the famous Old Town White Coffee with Hazel nut flavour. Then Maw asked Wing to demonstrate his skills of how to remove the egg shell with a single blow. Wing, prepare himself and start to blow. The egg almost came out fully. He commented that the egg not boil hard enough. Next time we will boil the egg hard. Maw experience seeing Wing did the blow. The egg really came off the shell with a blow. Okay, finish breakfast, off we go to the waterfall again for the last time before we break camp and leave. Ames, Lai and Maw each of them brought along the Old Town White Coffee with Hazel nut flavour and dip themselves in the pond of cold water and drink it there and then. The is priceless. We bath, swim and massage for the last time. Off we break the camp, clean up the camp site, and spray the baygon spray on our shoes and socks. This is really important. Off we go back to civilization. We all really enjoy, relax and our mind really need this break from the work in the office.

We have our lunch at Restaurant Yong Tau Foo Leong Ya in Seri Kembangan before we head off to our respective home.

Here some photos of Jeram Perlus XPDC
